HISTORY OF S.AMANZHOLOV EAST KAZAKHSTAN STATE UNIVERSITY
| 1952 | Ust-Kamenogorsk Teachers’ Institute was the first higher educational institution of the Eastern Kazakhstan region. According to the USSR and the Kazakh SSR Counsil of Ministers decree the Semipalatinsk Teachers Training Institution was transferred to Ust-Kamenogorsk and simultaneously reorganized into pedagogical institute. |
| 1956 | The first class of specialists graduated. The first students’ science conference was held. |
| 1960 |
During archeological expedition in Chilictinsk valley under the head of S.S. Chernicov gold antiques were found by scientists and students from EKSU and Liningrad. The figure of “Flying deer» became the symbol of international archeological exhibitions. |
| 1964 |
Golovanov F.G., the associated professor of EKSU created the best teaching system for children with ballpoint pen writing. |
| 1967 | The new educational building of UKTI (main) was put in commission. |
| 1975 | UKTI became the 1st category institute. It became one of the ten best teachers’ training institutes in Soviet Union. |
| 1982 | The Institute was the winner of All-Union Socialist competition among 262 pedagogical institutes of the USSR and got the challenge Red Banner of Ministry of Education of the USSR. |
| 1986 | UKTI was the winner of All-Union computer technologies implementation competition |
| 1987 | The first All-Union polygraphy conference and Republican Olympiad of Physics took place at UKTI. |
| 1988 | All-Union experiment of integrated specialty “Natural Science” teachers training was begun. |
| 1989 | Post-graduate course was opened. All-Union scientific-practical conference was accomplished. Participants of the conference came from 57 towns of the Soviet Union. UKTI at the All-Union socialist competition won for the third place among 900 institutions of higher education. |
| 1990 | The experimental 2-level (“bachelor –master”) specialists training system was begun by UKTI and 5 leading educational institutions of USSR. The first pedagogical lyceum in Kazakhstan was created with the help of UKTI and secondary school № 34 staff. UKTI is the first among teachers’ training institutions in Kazakhstan, were certificated by the State committee USSR of the people’ education. |
| 1991 | The board of Ministers of KazSSR adopted the resolution “About the transformation of UKTI into EKSU. |
| 1992 | 25 citizens of China graduated UKTI. East Branch of National Academy of the Republic was created. Advanced training and continuing education institute was opened. |
| 1994 | The first bachelor class graduated. The first in Kazakhstan Master’s degree programme was opened. |
| 1995 | The Kazakh-American College of Business at East-Kazakhstan State University was opened by our president N.A.Nazarbayev. EKSU was admitted into Eurasian University Association. |
| 1996 | The first master class graduated. |
| 1999 | EKSU became the member of International Academy of Science and higher education. As well as adopted into «Siberia Open University» Association |
| 2001 | EKSU sub-university was opened in Mongolia. EKSU is the one university in Republic of Kazakhstan who has its own sub-university abroad. |
| 2002 | EKSU was fifty years old. |
| 2003 | EKSU was named after a well-known Scientist-linguist, turcologist Sarsen Amanzholov. |
| 2004 | Credit system of education introduction was begun. |
| 2006 | The EKSU is the first among Eastern region institutes of the Republic to get the international certificate for the system of quality management to meet the requirements of international standards of ISO 9001: 2000 |
| 2007 | Innovative Technologies Centre was formed. |
| 2008 | EKSU the Board of Academics approved new development strategy of the university for the period of 2009 |
| 2009 | The university has signed the agreement with Magna Charta Universitatum in Bologna, Italy. |
