The Department of postgraduate education is a structural division of the University that coordinates the educational process of the University departments for the preparation of scientific and pedagogical personnel of the highest qualification (masters and PhD).
The Department was created in August 2008 as a result of the merger of two departments of the University:master's and postgraduate courses.
Training of students of the East Kazakhstan state University named S. Amanzholov began first in the Republic of Kazakhstan since 1994 (order of the Ministry of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 283 from G. 15.07.94). The experiment was the magistracy on the following specialties: "Russian language and literature", "History of Kazakhstan", "History of foreign countries", and from September 1, 1996 Godan the basis of the order of the Ministry of education of Kazakhstan (№ 279 dated August 29, 1996) opened new specialties: "Chemistry", "Geography", "Biology".
Taking into account the demand for masters in the labor market and the increase in the cost of training one master's student, the University opened a specialized one-year master's program for specialists in law, Economics, pedagogy and psychology, psychology, Kazakh Philology and history in the 2005-2006 academic year.
Since the 2002-2003 academic year, credit technology has been introduced into the educational process of the University, which increases the level of self-education and creative development of knowledge on the basis of individualization and creative development of knowledge.
The Department of postgraduate education trains masters in the relevant qualifications in the chosen field of professional activity on a multi-level structure, in accordance with the state General education standards (SCES). After completing the master's degree, graduates are awarded the academic degree "master".
Currently, the University has licenses for the preparation of PhD doctors on the basis of professional training programs in the specialties 6D060400-Physics, 6D020100-Philosophy, 6D020300 – History , 6D060600 – Chemistry, 6D011700 - Kazakh language and literature, 6D050600 - Economics, 6D060100 - Mathematics, 6D011100 - computer Science – with a period of three years.
After completing their studies in the doctoral program (PhD), doctoral students are awarded the degree of "doctor of philosophy".
The master's degree program of the University is carried out both on a state budget and on a contractual basis. Master's degree programs are conducted in 16 departments of the University.
All master's degrees are provided with highly qualified teaching staff. Scientific management of master's theses of the University is carried out by scientists with the academic title "Professor"or" associate Professor".
The basis of the material base of the master's degree is the equipment of physical, chemical, environmental laboratories, computer classes, audio and video equipment, the library Fund of the University, there is an opportunity to use information and communication technologies.
Every year, the University hosts a scientific and practical conference of young scientists and students, where undergraduates and doctoral students have the opportunity to present the results of their research
To date, the master's program of the S. Amanzholov EKSU provides training in 31 specialties of scientific and pedagogical and 18 specialties of specialized areas.
